mental health challenge

Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19: 26)

I know that the quote at the top is a little rude.  However, it’s not nearly as rude as the mental saboteurs who would like nothing more than to convince you that your dreams and goals are impossible – and SO you should just forget about those dreams! LIES!

These mental culprits are inspired by the enemy of your soul, the father of lies, and they have been verbalized in your history by negative people in your life.  They work hard to prevent you from moving forward.  They throw in enough of the truth to sound convincing.

This is way beyond anything you’ve ever done or could do.

Remember when you failed? You’ll fail again.

What will people say? People are going to think you’re crazy!

YOU?  Are you kidding me?

The dreams God has impregnated in your heart may, in fact, be bigger than you or your experience can handle.  But they’re not too big for God.

Sure, you’ve made some mistakes in your past.  You’re human.  Everyone has.  But God can take even what He’s taught you through your failings and use it for good.

People won’t always understand.  They criticized Jesus, even killed him.  What makes you think you can please everyone?

And YOU?  Why not you?  It’s not about you, anyway.  This is all about how big and how worthy God is!

Listen, when you are walking with God and listening to His Voice, you’re going to find yourself in over your head more often than not.  That’s when you learn to depend on Him totally.  That’s how you learn to trust.  Peter can tell you first-hand.  When you’re out in the deep water, and the storms are raging all about you, you have no choice but to lock eyes with Jesus and keep walking.

That’s the beauty of venturing out of comfort and into the fantastic adventure of partnering with God to make a difference in this world. That’s how you learn to seize God-sized opportunities and run with them.  That’s how you stretch and grow, and that’s how you develop the skill to lead others to do the same! God’s the Brains and the Power behind it all.  You simply have to be a willing vessel.  And what a ride that is!

But I must repeat the caveat.  You can be tricked into missing it unless you tell that negative committee in your head to sit down and shut up!

God, I don’t want to miss any opportunity You have for me.  I want to pay attention only to YOUR Voice, and in response to The Voice, I say a heart-deep, “YES!”
